The Philadelphia Thing is excited to announce Trade School 2020: Detroit, conceived and produced in collaboration with the Detroit-based A Host of People. As with everything in this tumultuous year, this residency and exchange program has changed shape in unexpected ways. Five Philadelphia artists, selected through our open call in January 2020, have each received $5,000 grants to advance their proposed projects. In addition, five Detroit-based artists, nominated by Sherrine Azab of A Host of People, Ryan Myers-Johnson of Sidewalk Festival, and Nour Ballout of Habibi House, have been selected to receive $5,000 each in development funds.
While we pause our planning for a festival platform, The Philadelphia Thing and A Host of People are excited to share the work and practice of these ten artists. Please join us for any and all of the following virtual events. Each night will feature a half-hour presentation from two artists, followed by time for conversation, reflection, and questions.
Events are 7:00-8:30pm EST
